The zoll m Series Pulse oxygen meter option allows users to continuously, externally, and pain-free observation of the percentage of arterial hemoglobin oxygen saturation at the surrounding measurement site (i.e., feet, toes, fingers).
The oxygen meter consists of two leds (light emitting diodes), or leds, that transmit infrared and infrared light through the limbs of the body. The
photodetector receives the light that passes through. Oxygen-saturated blood and unsaturated blood absorb light differently. Therefore, the
amount of infrared and infrared light absorbed by the blood through suitable surrounding areas of the body, such as the fingers of adults and the
feet of newborns, can be used to calculate the ratio of oxyhemoglobin to total hemoglobin in arterial blood. This ratio is shown on the screen as
spo2 percent.
Normal level is usually between 95% and 100%.
The m Series uses the Maximoâ pulse oximeter slide to obtain features for processing and reporting fundamentally different methods of arterial
oxygen saturation and pulse rate. The m Series spo2 module (MaximoâMaximo sensor is connected to the circuit) reports the results (oxygen
saturation, pulse rate pulse waveform, etc.) digitally via the serial port of the m Series system edition. The m Series system provides series
communication to the spo2 panel by isolating the power panel.
